Arctic Monkeys Cause a Nervous Breakdown in ‘Snap Out of It’ Video
After hoisting herself out of a pool and changing into something more comfortable, actress Stephanie Sigman reveals a more obsessive side of herself in the Arctic Monkeys‘ “Snap Out of It” clip. As the propulsive AM track pounds away in the background – and frontman Alex Turner sings about grabbing his lover’s shoulders and shaking her – the scantily clad Miss Bala actress watches grainy video of the band goofing off and experiences a nervous meltdown.
Although it’s never revealed exactly which member of the band (or if it’s the group as a whole) that has driven Sigman to tears, it’s worth noting that she does take some efforts to “snap out of it” by cooking a pork chop and dancing crazily. By the end of the video, conceived by frequent Monkeys collaborators Focus Creeps (“One for the Road,” “R U Mine?”), she seems somewhat at peace.

Much like Sigman’s character in the clip, Arctic Monkeys have been venturing outside of their comfort zone recently, but unlike the character, they’ve handled it well. In May, the group took a stab at covering “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards,” a song by Australian psychedelic rockers Tame Impala, for an Australian radio show. And in February, they covered the Beatles‘ “All My Loving” at Madison Square Garden to help commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Fab Four’s arrival in the U.S.
That same month, Turner gave an impassioned speech at the BRIT Awards in defense of the genre rock & roll. “Yeah, that rock & roll, it seems like it’s fading away sometimes, but it will never die,” he said. “And there’s nothing you can do about it.”
