Theophilus London’s Got His Own Same Love Story, Hear Preview
On a preview clip of “Do Girls” that leaked on SoundCloud Wednesday, beloved New York rapper Theophilus London raps about having a fling with a woman who is in a lesbian relationship.
The leak came without notice. The snippet has not been confirmed as an official single or song from his Vibes album due out this year.
Over fluttering synthesized guitars, a haunting bass groove, and subtle kick drums and hi hats, Theo boasts of his macking skills, rhyming, “She told me that she only do girls until she met a player like me.”
After sharing his humorous tale, the two-minute-and-19-second excerpt closes with the “young, pretty fly thing” having a moment of remorse. The woman calls a friend to confess her transgression, asking that she keep her dirty little secret in confidence.
Theo’s fans are long overdue for more of his like whit and storytelling. His last single, “Rio,” was released last April and it’s been three years since he put out his debut, Timez Are Weird These Days.
In a series of posts on his Twitter page, Theo talks laying low for seven months, moving out West and working with Leon Ware, who produced Marvin Gaye’s “I Want You,” and Adam Pavao.
If “Do Girls” hints at the direction of Vibes, he’s in good shape.
