Hear Justin Bieber’s Ed Sheeran-Penned Song, ‘Love Yourself’
Justin Bieber‘s Purpose drops on Friday, and after a hefty rollout of its new tracks in recent weeks, the singer debuted two more songs from the lengthy album on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show Monday. Hear the Ed Sheeran-penned “Love Yourself” below.
The acoustic “Love Yourself” is the most subdued and least electronic of Bieber’s new tracks. Following up the Skrillex-assisted songs like “Sorry” and “I’ll Show You,” “Love Yourself” — co-produced by Sheeran and Benny Blanco — is a more intimate acoustic song featuring just vocals and guitar. “My mama don’t like you, and she likes everyone,” Bieber sings in a style that molds well to Sheeran’s during the pre-chorus. “And I don’t like to admit that I was wrong. And I’ve been so caught up in my job, didn’t see what’s going on, and now I know, I’m better sleeping on my own.”
During the show, Bieber also encouraged Lowe to play his duet with Halsey, “The Feeling.” He had previously previewed its video and a few seconds of the dance-y track. In the clip, which Bieber posted on Twitter, Amazonian women hear Bieber’s previous singles “What Do You Mean?” and “Sorry” in a forest before gravitating to the singer. The clip ends just as Halsey begins singing “Am I in love with you or am I in love with the feeling?” A full version of the track is not yet available.
Halsey is the only pop voice to contribute to Bieber’s new album. Rappers Big Sean, Travi$ Scott and Nas are all featured on the LP, while his previous collaboration with EDM superduo Jack Ü, “Where Are Ü Now,” has a spot on the album as well.
