Watch Peter Dinklage Hype the Olympics
In a new teaser for the 2014 Winter Olympics, Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage offers some dramatic narration to help set the stage. The actor boasts one of the grandest, most commanding voices this side of James Earl Jones, so it’s a natural fit to pump up America’s Olympic audience.

“It almost seems like an oversight that this nation, that bears so much of winter’s burden, has never before hosted the Winter Games,” Dinklage narrates, over a montage of the frozen Russian landscape. The actor then moves on to discuss specific athletes featured in this year’s Games, who will revolutionize “what the Olympics look like. . . sound like [and] feel like.”

Elsewhere in the nearly two-minute clip, Dinklage gets deep and poetic, teasing out a narrative about youth: “More than ever before, snow has become the realm of the young – a place where every tale is tinged with originality.” He focuses mainly on Americans like snowboarder Shaun White, alpine ski racer Julia Mancuso and speedskater J.R. Celski who are “prime to cast themselves into the starring role” of this epic battle. The most revered of the bunch is alpine ski racer Bode Miller, whom Dinklage labels “the Champion, whose pure talent steers a fearless path.”
