The film will feature the pair as sisters who return home to find that their parents’ house has been put up for sale, and decide to throw one last wild party to say goodbye. Paula Pell, a writer for Saturday Night Live since 1995 who also worked with Fey on 30 Rock and co-produced This is 40, wrote the screenplay. Fey will serve as a producer on The Nest and Poehler will be an executive producer.
This will be the first starring vehicle for Poehler and Fey together since 2008’s Baby Mama, in which Poehler played a surrogate mother hired by Fey. The former Saturday Night Live Weekend Update co-anchors also appeared together in 2004’s Mean Girls.
Fey’s Muppets Most Wanted hit theaters in March—with the 30 Rock star playing the leader of a gulag—and she’s also producing two new TV shows premiering in the fall. Poehler is in the midst of her sixth season on Parks and Recreation, while simultaneously producing Comedy Central’s new hit Broad City.
