Seth Troxler Muses on Rigors of the Road in Red Bull Doc – Premiere
What Difference Does It Make? A Film About Making Music explores why groundbreaking artists make the music they make and dissects the challenges they face being so unique. For the feature-length documentary tied to the Red Bull Music Academy’s 15th anniversary, director Ralf Schmerberg interviewed some of music’s most creative talents, including Brian Eno, Philip Glass, Erykah Badu, Nile Rodgers, Lee “Scratch” Perry, James Murphy, Debbie Harry and more. Schmerberg also questioned some of music’s younger rising stars, like house music luminary Seth Troxler, who was booking shows by the time he was 15 and playing underground Berlin clubs just after graduating high school.
In this exclusive bonus footage provided to Rolling Stone, Troxler muses on growing up in the underground-music scene, playing live shows and being able to help out other artists. In the documentary itself, he explains the rigors of having to constantly be on the go. “It takes a special personality to kind of deal with and be kind of cool with [that life], to live that life alone and be comfortable being alone,” Troxler says in the film. “I’ve always been a loner so I guess I always prepared myself for these moments. But, life can be cold. It’s fuckin’ hard on the road, man. It can be very hard on the road.”
Although Troxler might have to deal with the rigors of the road, you can relax at home because the entire film can be streamed for free, right now, here.
