Arcade Fire Bringing ‘Reflektor’ to Arenas
Arcade Fire have announced a massive North American arena tour behind their new album Reflektor set to kick off next March and run through August. The trek starts March 6th at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky and wraps up August 30th with a homecoming show at Montreal’s Parc Jean-Drapeau.
Go Inside Arcade Fire’s Punk-Funk Odyssey, ‘Reflektor’
Arcade Fire have played a handful of shows in Brooklyn, Los Angeles and Montreal already in support of their fourth LP, but most have been pretty small with the band often performing under the name the Reflektors.
Debuting atop the Billboard 200, Reflektor found Arcade Fire embracing a far more dancey and experimental sounds, partially inspired by Win Butler and Regine Chassagne’s trip to Haiti, and something certainly expanded upon by co-producer James Murphy.
“Going to Carnival for the first time and seeing rara music, which is a kind of street music with all of these horns and African percussion,” Butler recently told Rolling Stone of his trip. “I remember being on a beach at three in the morning, and there was a voodoo drummer playing, and he had been dancing for like, four hours with kids and teenagers and they started to get the spirit. . . . It really kind of makes you feel like a hack being in a rock band, having musical experiences like that. It’s just like, ‘Oh right. There’s living, beating folk music that’s alive in the modern world.’ I’ve always listened to folk records, but actually experiencing it reminded me of the whole point.”
Tickets go on sale November 22nd.
