Morrissey and Pamela Anderson Gaze Into Sunset in Spoken Word Video
Morrissey continues to roll out somber and quietly riveting spoken-word music videos for tracks off his upcoming LP, World Peace Is None of Your Business. In the latest clip is for the album’s third single, “Earth Is the Loneliest Planet,” Moz is assisted by a surprising guest: Pamela Anderson.

Director Natalie Johns films the unlikely duo on the roof of L.A.’s Capitol Records Tower, as they exchange barely-there glances and gaze longingly at the sunset. The only real soundtrack is Morrissey’s warm baritone, as he delivers the song’s bleak lyrics like an epic poem: “You fail as a woman, and you lose as a man. . . / Earth is the cruelest place that you’ll never understand.” At one point, the singer almost shrugs out a defeated smile as he looks upward toward the heavens.
Morrissey has already shared spoken word videos for two World Peace tunes: the title track, which included a Nancy Sinatra cameo, and “Istanbul,” which featured the singer pouring himself a drink as he narrated lyrics about a father’s search for his dead son. Back in early May, Moz launched his North American tour at the San Jose City National Civic, delivering a discography-spanning set of Smiths tracks and even a few World Peace cuts.
“Earth Is the Loneliest Planet” will be available as a single on June 3rd via Harvest Records. The album will follow on July 14th; it’s currently available for iTunes preorder, and a deluxe bundle is available via mail order.
