Juicy J Going It Alone on Next Album
Juicy J’s third solo album, Stay Trippy, was a star-studded affair, thanks to appearances by Justin Timberlake, Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, Chris Brown, and A$AP Rocky, to name just a few, but the rapper’s follow-up will be a retrospective one with far fewer guest spots. “It’s coming out around September and it’s called The Hustle Continues,” the founding member of Three 6 Mafia told Rolling Stone at the red carpet for Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammy Gala. “90 percent is done. Not that many features are going to be on this album but I got one crazy feature.”
Juicy J Stays Trippy in New York
While there won’t be many other rappers included, Juicy J is bringing in Mike Will, Dr. Luke, and 808 Mafia to help out with the production. “I did some production myself,” he said. “I’ve been doing this for a while, so I’m just stepping my game up and letting people know what I’ve been going through, through my whole career, from being in Three 6 Mafia to doing the solo stuff.”
In the meantime, Juicy J revealed that his next single from Stay Trippy will be “Talkin’ Bout,” featuring Chris Brown and Wiz Khalifa. “I finna drop a new single with Wiz Khalifa and Chris Brown Called ‘Talkin About’ in a week in February,” he said. “It’s a feel-good, inspirational smoke record.”
Juicy J also offered his thoughts on artists that have elected not to work with Chris Brown. “That’s not smart. Chris Brown is a star. He’s a genius. Anybody should want to work with him. He makes hits. Look on the charts right now. He’s on the charts climbing up. That’s my homie. He’s a good guy.”
Juicy J, who will perform at the Grammy Awards tonight alongside his “Dark Horse” collaborator Katy Perry, said that he’s most excited to meet Madonna this weekend. “I’ve never seen Madonna. I just grew up listening to her music – I want to see her. She’s a hot MILF.”
