Lorde Cancels Eight Tour Dates Due to Health
Lorde has canceled an eight-date Australian tour after coming down with “a nasty chest infection” and “general ill health,” the budding pop star wrote on Twitter.

“[I] am so gutted to have to do this, but my parents and my team stepped in telling me I needed a break after being non-stop since the Grammys in January,” she wrote. Lorde promised that the Australian dates would be rescheduled, most likely in November; and Billboard reports that Frontier Touring will announce new dates soon. Refunds will be available for those that can’t make the rescheduled shows.
“I just need time to get back to full Gollum girl fitness before i go out playing shows again,” Lorde added. “I’m truly sorry if I let you down or if you feel inconvenienced by this and I hope you can understand.”
Odds are her fans certainly will: Like she wrote, Lorde has been working nonstop since this year’s Grammys — where her breakout smash “Royals” won Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance — kicking off her first ever U.S. tour in March. The singer made her Coachella debut after taking the stage with Nirvana at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, where she fronted the group on “All Apologies.”
“It’s weird, because when you’re in the early stages of a project, it’s so pure – you’re like, ‘This will never be tainted,'” Lorde told Rolling Stone about her breakout album, Pure Heroine, last year. “Then you get further on and you’re like, ‘I want people to hear this record, so I’ve got to do something to support it.’ I put my music out with no kind of commercial expectation, and found out I was a pop star.”
