Reignwolf Pound Out Riffs on ‘In the Dark’ – Song Premiere
Less than a month after Reignwolf tracked “In the Dark” in New Orleans during his Voodoo Fest visit, Jordan Cook’s one-man band is releasing the stomping, bluesy hard rock single. The latest from the Canadian wunderkind recorded the song at Ani DiFranco’s home studio with her husband, engineer Mike “Nappy” Napolitano.
Reignwolf Rock Austin City Limits Festival
“‘In the Dark’ was inspired by a 13th-century Romanian novel, and was written in the basement of a home in Saskatchewan during the dead of winter, with temperatures reaching 37 below, and the entire town without power for nine straight days,” Cook tells Rolling Stone. The song follows the Saskatoon-reared, Seattle-based Reignwolf’s previous single, “Are You Satisfied,” which came out last August to acclaim.
Cook wowed audiences at this year’s Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits festivals, and the attention helped Reignwolf land a support slot for Black Sabbath when the band plays Canada in April on the next leg of the their tour.
Ahead of that commitment, Reignwolf touches down in Australia next week for a pair of shows in Sydney and Melbourne, on December 10th and 12th, respectively. Later in the month, Cook has a handful of post-Christmas shows in Vancouver; Victoria, British Columbia; Seattle and Portland, Oregon, between December 26th and 29th. Details are available here.
