Eric Clapton Rehearses for ‘Unplugged’ Special
Back in January 1992, Eric Clapton swapped his Stratocaster for an acoustic guitar for an MTV Unplugged special, stunning the audience with reworked cuts from throughout his career, including “Layla,” “Running on Faith” and “Tears in Heaven,” and blues tracks like Bo Diddley’s “Before You Accuse Me” and Robert Johnson’s “Malted Milk.”

Before taping the special, Clapton spent time rehearsing onstage while MTV cameras rolled, resulting in this version of the blues standard “Nobody Knows You When You’re Down and Out.” It’s part of a new deluxe edition of Clapton’s Unplugged performance that will include outtakes, alternate versions and more than an hour of previously unseen footage from the rehearsal.
The deluxe edition is due out on October 15th, and is available for preorder here.
