Bachman-Turner Overdrive Founder Charged With Sexual Assault
Canadian police have charged original Bachman-Turner Overdrive rhythm guitarist Tim Bachman with several sexual offenses, including sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching. Leading up to the charges, authorities in Abbotsford, British Columbia had been investigating incidents related to Bachman that took place in the Nineties, CBC News reports. The alleged victim’s name will not be released due to a court order.

Bachman is currently free under the provision that he must avoid contact with anyone under the age of 16. Additionally, he must keep away from public parks, schoolyards, daycare, swimming pools or other areas where minors are typically present.
Bachman was previously found not guilty of similar offenses last year, after a woman claimed he had groped her while she was living with him as a foster child.
Bachman cofounded Bachman-Turner Overdrive, with brothers Robbie and former Guess Who guitarist Randy, and vocalist-bassist Fred Turner in 1973. He stayed with the group through 1979, playing on their first two albums – the gold-selling Bachman-Turner Overdrive and platinum Bachman-Turner Overdrive II – as well as the hits “Let It Ride” and “Takin’ Care of Business.” He played with the group again between 1983 and 1986. He was not included in the members of Bachman-Turner Overdrive inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in early 2014, though his replacement, Blair Thornton, was.
Tim had been working as a real estate agent in Abbotsford since the early Nineties. He also served as the director of a real-estate board in the area during the mid 2000s.
