Jack Antonoff Unveils Bleachers Album Info Via Craigslist Ad
If you’re trolling Craigslist in the New York/New Jersey area today, you may come across a musician seeking “Strange Desire.” The phrase may have certain connotations on other areas of the site, but in this case, it refers to the the title of Jack Antonoff‘s debut album as Bleachers set for release on July 15th.

In the highly personal note, Antonoff writes that the titular phrase appears in a lyric — “Feeling like I never was young I followed a dream and a strange desire” — that came to him suddenly during a scratch vocal take for the last track he wrote for the Bleachers album.
“That line speaks to my entire life over the past 14 years of writing and being on tour,” he writes. “I do feel like I’m constantly mourning a childhood I never had. Mostly because I dealt with a lot of loss in the most formative years of my life. That ties into a lot of the lyrics on the album.
Sharing this album is as important as making it for me,” Antonoff continued. “I’m able to move on with my life from hearing the stories of what people have been through as well as telling them myself. people hearing my stories makes me feel less alone; hearing others stories does the same.”
Antonoff revealed Bleachers back in February, releasing first single “I Wanna Get Better,” which later got a hilarious, poignant music video directed by Girls creator/star, and Antonoff’s girlfriend, Lena Dunham. Bleachers have a string of festival dates lined up for this summer as well, including stops at Governors Ball, Firefly, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits Music Festival.
