Fabric 75
On last year's breakthrough Comfort, London house wunderkind Maya Jane Coles proved herself an impressive singer-songwriter. But she remains a DJ first and foremost. Where her superb 2012 volume of DJ-Kicks glimmered nonstop, Coles' new set, for the London superclub Fabric's custom mix series, showcases hard, dark and luxuriant tracks like Dense and Pika's remix of Paul Woolford's 2006 staple "Erotic Discourse" and NT89's bubbling "Purple Garden." Despite their unwieldy credits, Dapayk and Padberg's "Close Up (Exercise One Remix)" and DJ Yellow and Flowers and Sea Creatures' "No One Gets Left Behind" should appeal to anyone drawn to Coles by the singing.
