‘20,000 Days on Earth’ and 11 More Must-See Sundance Film Festival Successes
While Cave will only play and partake in a conversation after screenings in Los Angeles (July 10th), Montreal (August 1st) and New York City (August 4th), fans across North America will be able to see the film ahead of its official September release in cities that coincide with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds‘ North American summer tour.
You can check out a full list of dates and locations for the advanced screenings below. Pre-sale tickets will go on sale Thursday June 5th at 10 a.m. local time, with general on-sale starting on the 6th at 10 a.m. local time, except for Los Angeles and New York, which start at noon local time. You can purchase tickets over on Cave’s website.
Beneath the dates, you can also watch a clip from 20,000 Days on Earth, in which Cave discusses his writing process and what keeps him at his typewriter.
During an interview with Rolling Stone ahead of 20,000 Days on Earth‘s Sundance premiere, Cave described how he and filmmakers Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard wanted the film to be different from most rock docs:
“We didn’t want to do a warts-and-all-style documentary. I didn’t want my life invaded in that way. The Metallica one [Some Kind of Monster] was interesting because it showed a band in a state of collapse. There was something kind of ghoulish about it – about the experience of watching that. But most documentaries feel to me to be self-serving exercises. They’re just vehicles for self-promotion. I was very reluctant to do this in the first place, because I had no interest in doing that kind of documentary.”
