Elvis Presley Classics Get Orchestration on ‘If I Can Dream’
Fourteen of Elvis Presley‘s greatest vocal performances will be paired with new orchestral accompaniment on an upcoming collection titled If I Can Dream: Elvis Presley With the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. On the LP, classic tracks like “Love Me Tender” and “Can’t Help Falling In Love” will boast new arrangements courtesy of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, which recorded their performance at London’s Abbey Road Studios. The album, the latest addition to the ongoing celebration of what would have been Presley’s 80th birthday in 2015, arrives on October 30th.
If I Can Dream will also feature guests like Michael Bublé, who duets with Presley on “Fever,” as well as guitarist Duane Eddy (“An American Trilogy” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water”) and Italian operatic pop trio Il Volo (“It’s Now or Never”). Don Reedman and Nick Patrick produced the album. If I Can Dream will be available on both CD and 2-LP.
“This would be a dream come true for Elvis,” Priscilla Presley said of If I Can Dream in a statement. “He would have loved to play with such a prestigious symphony orchestra. The music…the force that you feel with his voice and the orchestra is exactly what he would have done.”
