Arctic Monkeys Proclaim ‘You’re So Dark’ on New B-Side
The Arctic Monkeys will cap off an excellent 2013 with a new single “One for the Road,” a standout from the group’s latest record, AM. It arrives December 10th on Domino and now you can listen to the b-side, “You’re So Dark.”
A fitting companion to “One For the Road” – which recently got a farm fresh music video – “You’re So Dark” finds the Arctic Monkeys plumbing the sparse, low-end depths of AM where guitar licks and back-up vocals shimmer up from the abyss. Frontman Alex Turner waxes on about a woman he knows isn’t good for him, but wants nonetheless.

AM marked a significant change in style for the Arctic Monkeys; the band decamped to a studio in Joshua Tree, California where they found inspiration in everything from Dr. Dre and Outkast to Black Sabbath. Turner described the sound to Rolling Stone as, “almost like the Spiders From Mars covering Aaliyah. There’s like a shimmery, intergalactic, slightly cosmic element to the way both those genres make me feel.”
The group is currently wrapping up a string of U.S. dates, though they’ll be back in at the end of January for a new North American leg that will include a headlining gig at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on February 8th.
