Radiohead Go to the Symphony
Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood‘s symphony “Popcorn Superhet Receiver,” which debuted in London two years ago, will have its American premiere on January 16th at the Church of St. Paul the Apostle in New York. “The sound of an orchestra is really amazing to me,” Greenwood says of the piece, parts of which will also be included in the soundtrack to the new P.T. Anderson movie, There Will Be Blood. “[Popcorn] was written to try and emulate the sound of early drum machines, which were all based around white noise.” In other Radiohead news, the band is planning to launch a world tour behind its new album, In Rainbows, starting in May.
