‘Star Wars’ Shares Darth Vader Selfie
Darth Vader has officially crossed over to the dark side: the sinister Sith lord helped usher the Star Wars franchise onto Instagram yesterday with a menacing, spine-shivering and slightly adorable selfie along with the message, “Another day at the office. #StarWars #DarthVader #selfies #gpom.”

Star Wars has posted two other photos so far, including an old behind the scenes production still of Vader and his son Luke Skywalker preparing for their duel in The Empire Strikes Back. Fans can also see a concept model of Vader’s ride, the Star Destroyer, crafted by A New Hope‘s visual effects mastermind Colin Cantwell.

While the Star Wars Instagram has focused on the past so far, we’re hoping to see more stills from the upcoming Episode VII installment. So far, the only look we’ve seen is a shot of director J.J. Abrams, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and the creators of the new and improved R2-D2 that’s set to appear in the series reboot.
Why Disney Cannot Rush Star Wars
Episode VII is currently in pre-production at Pinewood Studios outside of London, with Abrams and Lucasfilm vet Lawrence Kasdan recently assuming script writing duties for original scribe Michael Arndt. There’s still no word on who will appear in the film, though superfans may still be able to audition online for the role of “an adolescent woman and a young man.” With filming set to begin next spring, Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled to open in theaters on December 18th, 2015.
