Watch Taylor Swift and Sam Hunt’s Steamy ‘Take Your Time’ Duet
Taylor Swift surprised fans during her second night of shows at Chicago’s Soldier Field on Sunday (July 19th), bringing hot country newcomer Sam Hunt onstage for a duet of his steamy hit “Take Your Time.”
The pop superstar first reminded fans she got her start as a country artist, and then said she still loves it so much that she likes to keep tabs on what’s cool.
“I love to see what’s going on in country music, and I think I’ve got the coolest thing in country music about to come out,” Swift said as screams began to fill the open-air football stadium. “Please make some noise, Chicago, Illinois, because Sam Hunt is here for you.”
“Take Your Time” is Hunt’s second Number One on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart (hitting the top spot in May), and Swift joined him on a park-bench set in the middle of the stage for the song’s fast-talking first verse, all about a guy who wants to talk to the prettiest girl in the room, even though she’ll think he’s trying to pick her up.
With Hunt decked out in the urban-casual style that has become his fashion trademark, Swift eyes him longingly before joining in on the song’s bombastic chorus — along with a whole stadium full of Swifties.
“Chicago, Illinois, put your hands in the air and show them to Sam,” she called out during a mid-song breakdown. “Now show him what it looks like when 55,000 people [wave them back and forth] to his song.”
The pair finished up Hunt’s hit face to face, then shared a big hug as the song wound down and her guest left the stage with a beaming smile.
After the show, Swift took to her Instagram account to post a photo of the moment, writing “A huge thank you to @SamHuntMusic for surprising the crowd with ‘Take Your Time’. Such a star.”
Surprise guests are beginning to become a regular occurrence on Swift’s massive 1989 Tour. The night before Hunt appeared, Swift invited supermodels Lily Donaldson and Andreja Pejic, singer Andy Grammer and Empire actress Serayah out to perform, while previous tour stops have included Nick Jonas, Jason Derulo, Lorde and Little Big Town.
Swift’s next 1989 tour stop will be another two-night stand on July 24th and 25th, this time at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, home of the New England Patriots.
