Morrissey Working on a Novel and New Album
Good news for Morrissey fans: the singer recently revealed in a lengthy fan Q&A that he’s currently working on two projects, a novel and a new album. “In 2013 I published my Autobiography and it has been more successful than any record I have ever released, so, yes, I am midway through my novel,” he posted on True to You. “I have my hopes.”

Naturally, he didn’t stop there and used the moment to bash the music industry, stating that pop radio never plays his music and that every artist at the top of the charts gets there as a result of labels buying those positions.
Still, he hasn’t given up hope on recorded sound just yet. When asked about a July 2012 gig he played in Istanbul, Moz revealed that his time spent there influenced a new song. “Well, we are about to record our new album, and one of the tracks is called ‘Istanbul,'” he said. “It is second to Rome as my most favorite city in the world. When I’m in Istanbul, I feel as if I could never die. My life is matched.”

He also took time to talk about some recent music he’s enjoying — mainly citing singer-songwriter Melanie Safka as his main obsession. “I never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever stop listening to music,” he said. “I listen so much that it worries me. I lie in the bath and I shout my head off. Music can bring vegetables to life, and I should know because I’m a vegetable.”
Next up for Morrissey is a deluxe reissue of his classic 1992 solo album Your Arsenal, due out February 25th.
