Keith Urban Goes Behind the Scenes of ‘We Were Us’ – Premiere
“We Were Us” was a reunion for country superstars Keith Urban and Miranda Lambert; Lambert opened for Urban during his 2006 tour and now, they pair again for a song about two lovers drifting apart. The song (off Urban’s album Fuse) is a classic country duet, with both Urban and Lambert calling out to each other with quiet sadness over a bouncing rhythm.

By contrast, in this behind-the-scenes clip of the creation of “We Were Us,” the pair is relaxed and pleased to be back in each other’s company. “[Miranda’s] such an incredible singer and I’ve always thought it’d be cool to do a duet together if the right song ever came along,” Urban said in a release. “When I heard ‘We Were Us,’ it was instant. I had two thoughts. The first, that ‘THIS is the song’ and the second, ‘Man, I hope she says yes!'”
The video for “We Were Us” will debut on Friday at 7:30pm ET on Urban’s Facebook page and will be followed by a chat with the artist. Given how Fuse debuted at Number One on the Billboard charts and found Urban experimenting with country-beat loops and R&B, he’ll probably have plenty to talk about.
Fuse was released on September 10 and Urban is on tour now.
