‘Let It Go(T)’ Mashes Up Disney’s ‘Frozen’ With ‘Game of Thrones’
The world remains captivated by “Let It Go,” the Oscar-winning piano ballad from Disney’s animated smash, Frozen. But what’s missing? Ahh, yes, sex scenes and fire-breathing dragons. Enter “Let It Go(T),” a YouTube mash-up which pairs that track’s musical backing with images from (and new lyrics inspired by) the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones.

“Winter’s been coming for seasons,” belts Gail Folsom in dramatic fashion, over a montage of grand landscapes. “So why is it still green?” From there, she explores all angles of the show from the mindset of a captivated (and often frustrated) Thrones addict – from the ambiguous morality of the series’ characters (“Who’s the hero on this show? / Tyrion? That new guy? Even book readers don’t know”) to the show’s heavy use of nudity to the endless onslaught of “new bearded guy(s).”
Folsom isn’t shy about voicing her opinions: “If we’re being honest, no one cares about Bran,” she sings, while praying that Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) “makes it to Season Five.” The singer’s complaints will hit close to home for diehard Thrones fans, many of whom also understand the perils of the slow-loading HBO Go app and “stealing cable from your mom.”
The clip was written by Folsom with Joanna Robinson and Dave Gonzales, with editing by David Chen.
In related (and more spoiler-heavy) news, Thrones author George R.R. Martin recently offered some clues to Rolling Stone about the death of a major character. (Spoiler revealed.) “In the books — and I make no promises, because I have two more books to write, and I may have more surprises to reveal — the conclusion that the careful reader draws is that Joffrey was killed by the Queen of Thorns, using poison from Sansa’s hair net,” he said. “So that if anyone actually did think it was poison, then Sansa would be blamed for it. Sansa had certainly good reason for it.”
