Anderson Cooper, Wolf Blitzer Discuss Ron Burgundy’s Journalism Ethics
Sure, Ron Burgundy’s laughing it up on the cover of Rolling Stone, interviewing all-star quarterbacks and lending his name to institutions of higher learning, but Will Ferrell’s man with the mustache has a darker side, too, his peers say.
“On-camera, he’s the best. But off-camera, he’s a bit of an asshole,” says Chris Cuomo, host of the CNN morning show New Day. “A major prick,” Wolf Blitzer chimes in as part of a new Funny or Die video that purports to pull back the curtain on Burgundy’s less savory exploits.

Blitzer, Cuomo and Anderson Cooper detail how Burgundy, the focus of the upcoming Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, has screwed them over for years. He’s literally stolen awards from Blitzer, created insulting nicknames for two of the three and once pranked Cuomo into thinking Burgundy was an inside source like Deep Throat, who helped Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein break the Watergate scandal.
“He Deep Throat-ed me for years,” Cuomo says. “It was really humiliating.”
When Burgundy’s not messing with their heads, he’s manipulating the news so he can get the scoop, from the Berlin Wall to Mike Tyson taking a bite out of Evander Holyfield. When will the madness stop? Probably on December 18th, when Anchorman 2 hits theaters.
