Dave Matthews Band Announce Massive Summer Tour
Dave Matthews Band will be playing two sets a night on their upcoming summer tour. On what they’ve dubbed “A Very Special Evening With Dave Matthews Band,” the group will play career-spanning set lists that will alternate between electric and acoustic music. In some instances, the band will change the configuration of its lineup depending on the song, including performances that will focus on Matthews with guitarist Tim Reynolds as a duo.

The group will also play its traditional Labor Day run at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington State. Those shows will also feature a “Caravan Stage” that will showcase performances by other artists.
All tickets, except for the Gorge shows in August, go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. local time on February 7th. The Gorge run goes on sale at 10 a.m. local time on February 21st.
“I was talking to Carter [Beauford, drums] about how much I still like just sitting around playing music together,” Matthews said in a statement. “It’s how we started – in the basements of Carter’s and my mom’s houses. Our shows are loose, but we started thinking that maybe this summer we should make them looser and bring some of that feeling to the stage. It seems like the opposite of a safe plan, so why not?”

“Everyone was really psyched about the idea, so we’ve been busy figuring out how to turn it into the best possible experience for our fans,” Beauford said.
But while Matthews is excited for the tour, that is not all that he’s been up to recently. Recently, Matthews told Rolling Stone he was working on the follow-up to 2012’s Away From the World. “There are some songs the band has been playing for a long time,” he said. “And then whenever I start messing around in the studio, I start writing, so hopefully we can come up with something worth listening to.”
