Danny Elfman Performs Tim Burton Scores Live
Earlier this month, film and television composer extraordinaire Danny Elfman returned to the stage to give his first live vocal performance since his New Wave group Oingo Boingo split in 1995. The program focused specifically on the music he’s written for numerous Tim Burton films and debuted at the Royal Albert Hall in London before relocating to a few other venues around the U.K. The show is set to touch down in the United States at Club Nokia in Los Angeles on October 29th, 30th and 31st.

If you’re looking for a taste of “Danny Elfman’s Music From the Films of Tim Burton,” you can check out a fan-shot clip from the Royal Albert Hall set of Elfman singing “Jack’s Lament” as Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas alongside the BBC Concert Orchestra and the Maida Vale Singers. The composer certainly brought the goods, slipping into the part with ease and busting out some mighty operatic vocals and expertly goofy exaggerations for the tune.
Elfman also lent his vocal talents to the Nightamare tunes “What’s This?” and “Oogie Boogie’s Song,” while below you can watch Helena Bonham Carter sing “Sally’s Song” from the show as well.
As for his composition work, Elfman remains busy as ever: He’s scored several films this year including Epic and Oz the Great and Powerful, and was on-hand for David O. Russell’s upcoming American Hustle.
