M.I.A. Plays ‘Come Walk With Me’ on ‘Fallon’
M.I.A. stopped by Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night to promote “Come Walk With Me,” her latest single from her new album Matangi. The Roots backed her up and aside from a few sporadic dance moves, the outspoken artist was quite subdued — rarely did she move away from the mic, but it’s probably for the best. Questo and Co. slowly elevated the tempo as the song unfolded, with M.I.A. fiercely contrentrating on nailing her vocals.

Later, she sat down with Fallon for a chat about the first time she met the Roots. “I was in Japan, so they don’t understand what I say in my songs,” she recalled. “They like the beat, they like the fashion. I walked into this really cool club and I saw [the Roots] and they sat in a line in the back, and I made my way over there. I banged into a glass wall.”
