Julian Casablancas Signs Cerebral Ballzy to Cult Records
New York punk rockers Cerebral Ballzy have signed to Cult Records, the creative imprint label founded the Strokes‘ Julian Casablancas. The band plans to release their second LP, Jaded & Faded, on the label in early 2014 and joins a growing roster that inclues Albert Hammond Jr., Har Mar Superstar, and the Virgins.

“Probably the coolest band in the world at the moment,” Casablancas told Rolling Stone about his latest act. “A truly legit modern hardcore/punk band, and by far my favorite. It’s beyond exciting to try and help them in any and all ways we can and we’re honored to put their deliriously great new record out on Cult Records.”
The signing follows a string of activity by the band. In September, Cerebral Ballzy played new songs when they opened five shows for FLAG, the band featuring former members of Black Flag. Last month, Cerebral Ballzy unveiled their video for “City’s Girl,” in which Casablancas made a brief cameo. Yesterday, they also debuted a new single “Better in Leather” on BBC Radio 1.
