Q-Tip and Busta Rhymes Drop Free Mixtape
Old pals Busta Rhymes and Q-Tip have joined forces to release a free mixtape. With cover art saluting A Tribe Called Quest’s Low-End Theory, their new release The Abstract and the Dragon brings together collaborative tracks recorded throughout two decades of friendship between the two rappers. The 28-track mix features the new songs “Thank You,” which the two recently released with Lil Wayne and Kanye West, and “Butch and Sundance.” It also includes skits and other cuts from A Tribe Called Quest, Missy Elliot and Big Daddy Kane.

“Me and Tip, we’ve been friends, brothers for 26 years,” Busta says in the trailer for the mix. “It’s weird for me when I really think of all the years that have passed and all this work we done did together, all this greatness we accomplished together. All the uncharted territory that we embarked on together. It’s almost like we’re still living that flawless victory experience.”
Q-Tip is currently at work on a new solo album, The Last Zulu, in addition to producing Kanye West’s upcoming follow-up to Yeezus with Rick Rubin. Busta Rhymes’ also has a new album, E.L.E. 2 (Extinction Level Event 2) in the works.
