Damon Albarn Teases Solo Album With Career Retrospective Video
Damon Albarn is releaseing his first solo album in 2014, and in this new two-minute teaser video, he splices bits of live footage, music videos and in-studio footage, that spotlights his sonic evolution throughout the years. The video ends with around 20 seconds of unidentified music – most likely a preview of Albarn’s new solo album. But it’s a fairly cryptic tease, with barely-there piano chords hovering over a static electronic pulse.

Back in May, Albarn shared details about his first-ever solo album with Rolling Stone, describing the sound as “sort of folk soul.” He also revealed that XL Records chief Richard Russell will handle “the rhythmic side” while Albarn will “do everything else.”
“We worked together on the Bobby Womack record, and really enjoy working together,” Albarn said. “He’s done spectacularly well as a music mogul, but I think he wants to focus his energy on producing records. Making a solo record is can be such a disaster, so I thought if we’re going to make a record with my name on it, I should get someone to really produce it – take that responsibility away from myself.”
