Ringo Starr Sets Summer Tour Dates With His All Starr Band
Ringo Starr is hitting the road this summer with his All Starr Band, which will once again feature Toto’s Steve Lukather, Mr. Mister’s Richard Page, original Santana singer Gregg Rolie, Todd Rundgren and drummer Gregg Bissonette. The tour kicks off 6/6th at Rama Casino in Ontario, Canada and wraps 7/19th at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles. “I love playing with this band,” Starr said in a statement, “and I can’t wait to get back out and play with them again.”

Starr turns 74 on 7/7th and he’s going to stage a “Peace & Love” celebration that day in Los Angeles. Details of that event have yet to be announced.
The tour announcement comes two days after Ringo performed “Photograph” at the Grammy Awards and played drums with Paul McCartney on his new song “Queenie Eye.” The two surviving Beatles will team up once again for a CBS celebration on February 9th to mark the 50th anniversary of their appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. They will be joined by Alicia Keys, John Legend, John Mayer, Keith Urban and Maroon 5. Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart will also reunite as Eurythmics for the show.
Starr has been touring with a rotating lineup of All Starr Bands since 1989. “We are the 1-800 band,” he told Rolling Stone in 2012. “Everybody has to have hits in the Sixties, which I do, in the Seventies, which I do, and we’re getting into the Eighties now. I don’t think we’ve quite managed the Nineties yet . . . It can get hard, the traveling. But we get those two hours of bliss and that’s great. That’s what keeps us going. I love to be out there, and it’s just what I do.”
It’s almost certain that this year’s show will feature Ringo classics like “Yellow Submarine” and “Photograph” mixed in with Santana’s “Black Magic Woman,” Toto’s “Africa,” Rundgren’s “I Saw the Light,” Mr. Mister’s “Broken Wings” and other hits.
