Wheeler Brothers Chart Their Rise on ‘Straight and Steady’ – Premiere
Whether donning Santa suits, playing softball in the heat or guzzling wine onstage, the members of the Austin band Wheeler Brothers look like they are having the time of their lives in the video for “Straight and Steady.” Their free and easy lifestyle captured in the clip is an ideal fit for the track’s down-home blend of rock, folk and Americana.

“The song was inspired during the recording sessions for Gold Boots Glitter after being out on the road for the better part of two years,” frontman Nolan Wheeler tells Rolling Stone. “When the band first started playing together, we were hustling just to get a weekday spot performing during happy hour. Fortunately, over time, we built up a strong following in Texas that afforded us the opportunity to venture out, tour the states, meet other amazing bands along the way and make a lot of new friends. This song walks through our early days from being paid with a bar tab to the family and fans we’ve developed away from home. We’re thankful for all the support that has allowed us to continue writing music.”
The band’s steady rise includes their recent wins at the Austin Music Awards last year, including trophies for Best New Band and Best Roots Rock Band. They continue to support Gold Boots Glitter on the road with Houndmouth.
