Dave Matthews Band Announce First South African Tour Dates
Dave Matthews is bringing his band to his homeland, South Africa, for the first time in their two-decade-long career. On November 30th, Dave Matthews Band will make their debut in Cape Town at the Grand Arena, GrandWest hall. Dave and the boys will also hit his hometown, Johannesburg, on December 3rd at the Coca-Cola Dome. Supporting the band for both shows will be longtime friend and South African folk singer Vusi Mahlasela, who has guested with the band before.
Matthews has already played a handful of solo shows in the country over the years, but these will mark the first full-band performances.

South African music has long been an influence on the Dave Matthews Band. After moving to the U.S. in 1986, Matthews began performing jazz and folk guitar in Charlottesville, Virginia, incorporating rhythmic patterns he learned from South African keyboardists. In the Nineties, this combination revealed itself in early DMB compositions like “The Song That Jane Likes” and “Recently.”
Tickets are on sale now for the South African shows and can be bought through Big Concerts or Computicket.
