Drake Teams With Win Butler for NBA All-Star Celebrity Game
Drake has a really big team, and they need some really big rings.
With the NBA’s All-Star festivities taking over Toronto next month, the 6 God (who also serves as “global ambassador” for his hometown Raptors) will pace the sidelines as head coach of Team Canada in the All-Star Celebrity Game, set for February 12. He’ll be opposed by Team USA coach Kevin Hart, who, in addition to being a really funny dude, is also a four-time Celebrity Game MVP.
So, in order to keep his home-court advantage, Drake has stocked Team Canada with stars like two-time NBA MVP (and Canadian icon) Steve Nash and Toronto Blue Jays masher Jose Bautista – they’ll both serve as assistant coaches – along with Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler, pro tennis player Milos Raonic, seven-time NBA All-Star Tracy McGrady, former pro Rick Fox, Canadian basketball standout Natalie Achonwa and, uh, HGTV’s Property Brothers, Drew and Jonathan Scott.
Meanwhile, Hart will counter with a squad that includes actors Michael B. Jordan and Anthony Anderson, comedian Nick Cannon, former NBA standouts Chauncey Billups and Muggsy Bogues and reigning WNBA MVP Elena Delle Donne.
The 2016 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game will air live on February 12 at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. Fans can vote for their 2016 NBA All-Stars right now, and polls close on January 18.
The 2016 NBA All-Star Game is the first to be held outside of the United States, and caps a weekend that also includes the State Farm All-Star Saturday Night, which features the Taco Bell Skills Challenge, Foot Locker Three-Point Contest and Verizon Slam Dunk contest. All of those events – and the ASG itself – will air live on TNT. Coverage of the 2016 NBA All-Star Game begins Sunday, February 14 at 7 p.m. ET on TNT. No word on whether Drake will be bringing his lint roller.
