Watch Tegan and Sara’s Dog Groomer-Inspired ‘100x’ Video
Tegan and Sara released “100x,” the third music video from forthcoming album Love You to Death after “Boyfriend” and U-Turn.” The sister duo from Calgary continue to derive inspiration from Eighties dance pop and New Wave similar to their last album, 2013’s Heartthrob.
The video for “100x” echoes the song’s glib melancholia with dramatic slow-motion shots of tiny dogs. Tegan and Sara sing deadpan on a prefab sofa, surrounded by framed pictures of the pooches on the wood-paneled wall behind them.
Director Jess Rona, who is also the creator of popular Instagram account JessRonaGrooming, won over Sara Quin at a party in Los Angeles, the singer tells VICE. “I constantly direct people to her beautiful, heartbreaking mini-music videos of her furry clients, because they’re an endless delight. It was a true honor to have her do a long-form version for our song,” said Quin.
