At the Drive-In Cancel Remainder of North American Tour
At the Drive-In have canceled the remainder of the North American dates on their reunion tour after singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala was struck by “a health concern with his vocal chords.” Friday night, the band canceled their concert at New York’s Terminal 5 less than an hour before they were scheduled to take the stage, and by Saturday morning, the remaining four dates of their North American tour were called off.
“Apologies to all our fans who have tickets but following our news earlier tonight, we regret to announce that all further shows on our North American tour, up to and including the Amnesia Festival appearance on June 25th are cancelled,” the band wrote in a statement on Facebook. “Tickets can be refunded from point of purchase. We will be back to make up these shows in the future. Thank you for your continued support.” Shows in Boston, Detroit, Toronto and Montreal were affected by the cancellation.
At the Drive-In reunited in March to perform live together for the first time since August 2012. Even before embarking on their trek, the noise rock act’s return got off to a rocky start when guitarist Jim Ward left the group the evening before the first date of the tour. However, the band continued on with their 2016 tour until Wednesday, when they canceled their second Washington, D.C. show because Bixler-Zavala was “fighting off a cold and has now lost his voice.”
The ailment progressed to the point where the rest of the North American tour needed to be canceled in order for the singer to recuperate in time for At the Drive-In’s European leg, which kicks off June 29th at Denmark’s Roskilde Festival.
