Watch Adele Deliver Moving Tribute to Orlando Victims Onstage
Adele opened her Sunday concert in Antwerp, Belgium with a somber reflection on the horrific Orlando shooting, which left 50 dead and 53 injured. The singer dedicated the show to “everybody in Orlando and at Pulse nightclub last night,” adding, “The LGBTQ community, they’re like my soulmates since I was really young, so I’m very moved by it.”
A fan-shot YouTube clip (via The Wrap) finds the 25 singer moved to tears during her stage intro. “I don’t know why I’m crying already, because most of this tonight is pretty miserable because my songs are fucking miserable,” she cracked. “I do have two songs that sound happy, but they’re not.”
Adele‘s ongoing European jaunt includes two other shows in Antwerp on the 13th and 15th. After a break, she will kick off her massive North American tour July 5th in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Against Me!’s Laura Jane Grace shared her outrage over the “fucked up” shooting with Rolling Stone. “[Guns] were such a part of the culture growing up,” she said. “Same people who are telling you, ‘Oh the government is trying to take away our guns,’ are living in extremes where it’s like, ‘Don’t you think this is fucking a little bit out of control that they have that fucking access to weapons?’ And for what?”
