Watch ‘Cartoon Trump’ Discuss Glitzy RNC Plans on ‘Colbert’
Cartoon Donald Trump returned to The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to discuss his New York victory as well as the upcoming Republican National Convention in Cleveland. Cartoon Trump has become a regular guest on Colbert‘s show this past month.
The late-night host began his bit by discussing the new logo for the convention, which will take place this July in Cleveland. He noted the elephant on a guitar refers to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, located in the city, and joked that it was a better choice than “an elephant walking on half of LeBron James.”
He explained the significance of this event, which will likely be contested if none of the candidates win enough delegates. A contested convention will allow delegates to switch their votes to any candidate and, critics argue, will leave room for heavy bribery from the candidates. In a clip of Trump discussing the act of bribing the delegates, the current frontrunner for the Republican nomination noted he had the “best toys” in which to use to win over more votes.
When cartoon Trump showed up, he was overjoyed from his recent victory, forcing Colbert to dance with him and making a joke about Ted Cruz’s “tiny Canadian penis.” The pair then discussed what Trump meant when he promised a “touch of show biz” for the RNC. According to the cartoon, he’ll gold plate the entire city of Cleveland, including its people, and will announce his Vice President Optimus Prime from his throne.
