Watch Jack White-Directed Video for Dead Weather’s ‘Be Still’
The Dead Weather have offered another riveting live performance clip off the group’s upcoming LP, Dodge and Burn out Friday.
Directed by Jack White, “Be Still” finds the Dead Weather bashing out the swampy, blues-tinged cut in a rehearsal space lined with lifeless, faceless humanoids and piles of tires. As the song plows ahead at the behest of Dean Fertita’s murky synth line and Alison Mosshart’s blood-curdling vocals, White adds bizarre directorial touches, including the idle movement of the figures behind the band and a quick cut to a goat hanging out nearby.
The black-and-white “Be Still” clip is the latest in a series of of videos the Dead Weather are releasing in support of Dodge and Burn, and follows the similarly stylized video for “I Feel Love (Every Million Miles).” The band has also dropped two of four planned demonstration videos, in which each Dead Weather member details how their respective instrument functions within the band.
So far, White has offered a look at his drumming style and custom kit, while Jack Lawrence revealed the pedal that wraps his bass in its characteristically deafening fuzz. Both clips include performances as well, with White switching up the drum beat during a rendition of their debut single, “Hang You From the Heavens,” while Lawrence’s video featured Dodge and Burn track “Mile Markers.”
Dodge and Burn, which arrives via White’s Third Man Records, marks the Dead Weather’s third LP and first since 2010’s Sea of Cowards. Due to other musical obligations, the band has no plans to tour behind the new album.
