Louis C.K. to Perform All New Material on Stand-Up Tour
Louis C.K. has mapped out a summer’s worth of tour dates where the comedian promises to showcase all new stand-up material. “It’s new jokes and I think I’m better at comedy right now than I’ve been for a while and I’m going to dedicate the year to just doing great live shows,” C.K. wrote in an email to fans Monday.
“It’s all new material (well, I’ve been working on it for about a year, so if you saw me at a club or something since last May or so, you might be seeing some of the same material, though it has changed drastically over the months) but if you’ve seen me on tour, in a major venue, you won’t have seen these particular words,” C.K. continued.
The trek kicks off Tuesday night with an early and late show at Baltimore’s Lyric Theatre and continues on throughout the U.S. – and briefly overseas, including Europe and a August 18th gig in Jerusalem, Israel – before closing out (for now) with two nights at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
As C.K. notes, he’ll be adding more cities and dates to the tour in the coming months. “If you don’t see your city or one close to you on this list, please note that this tour will continue through (at least) December. More cities will be announced for later fall and winter, probably in July,” he wrote.
The comedian also went to great lengths to ensure his tickets are affordably priced while also stymying scalpers who may take advantage of the generosity. “Tickets for every seat at every show (with a few exceptions) are one price. Most tickets are $50 or less. There are no ticket fees for any shows,” C.K. noted.
“My agent worked hard to accomplish this by negotiating in every city and finding venues that were willing to help us make the shows affordable,” he continued. “In some cases, the venues and I are splitting the ticket charges between us so you don’t have to pay it. In the end it’s worth it to me because I don’t want coming to see me to be a painful choice for anyone and either way I’m making plenty of money on the tour.” He added that anyone who attempted to profit on the secondary market risked having their tickets “invalidated.”
