Watch ‘Daily Show’ Blast Jeb Bush For Creepy ‘Supergirl’ Comments
Trevor Noah and The Daily Show were offered potent comedic ammo this week when GOP presidential hopeful Jeb Bush offered a creepy answer to a question about his favorite superhero. “I saw that Supergirl is on TV,” Bush said during a Q&A with the LIBRE Initiative about star Melissa Benoist. “She looked pretty hot. I don’t know what channel it’s on, but I’m looking forward to that.”
“Damn, Jeb’s creeping on the Kryptonian,” Noah cracked during Thursday’s Daily Show. “Jeb, just to let you know, and to everyone out there, Supergirl premieres at 8:30 on CBS. And based on Jeb’s excitement, I suggest no one shake his hand after 9 p.m. Because his hands will be sweating from the joy! … You guys are disgusting.”
The host also ripped Bush for his other weird superhero response and subsequent lack of imagination. When asked to name his favorite superhero, Bush replied, “I like watching the movies. I wish I owned Marvel, as someone that believes in capitalism,” according to New York. “So wait … watching superhero movies makes you dream of owning a business?” Noah said. “Not flying or shooting lightning, no, no, no. Most people have an inner child. Jeb Bush just has an inner accountant. ‘Well, if I had one superpower, it would be a robust investment portfolio.'”
After mocking complaints about the comic book Captain America being recast as a conservative-battling black man, Noah finished his segment by highlighting the escapism of superheroes: “We can’t fly like Superman, and Jeb Bush will never have the chance to be rejected by Supergirl.”
