Stephen Curry Has a Message for All You Haters
Last week, Under Armour released a new version of Steph Curry’s signature shoe, and the Internet roasted him for putting his name on something that appeals to a much older generation – not the world’s greatest athletes or NBA hopefuls. People came up with new names for the shoe — none of which were particularly endearing — slapped them on Life Call ads and credited them for being so ugly that nobody will ever fight over them.
With everyone ripping the shoes to shreds, a reporter asked Curry about his thoughts on them following Golden State’s Game 4 victory on Friday. Because he gets paid the big bucks to endorse Under Armour (he recently signed a contract extension through 2024 that includes equity stake), Curry gave them his stamp of approval and said he would’ve worn them had they been available to him.
“If I had them in the road bag, I would have definitely worn them and showed you how fire they are,” Curry said.
So on Sunday, that’s just what he did. With the Warriors back in Oakland for Game 5, Curry rocked his new shoes to practice and scrapped his usual “I can do all things” message for something more relevant to what’s going on in his life right now.
