Chuck Wicks to Release New Album Eight Years in the Making
In 2007, Chuck Wicks‘ debut single, “Stealing Cinderella,” waltzed all the way into the Top Five on the country chart. A few months later, the Delaware-born singer released his first album, Starting Now, on the RCA label. To say his follow-up LP has been long-awaited is an understatement. A full eight years and one month later, Wicks will release Turning Point, his second album and first for Blaster Records. The LP, for which he co-wrote all 11 tracks, was co-produced by Wicks with frequent co-writer Andy Dodd. It will be released February 26th.
As a songwriter, Wicks has had his tunes recorded by Jason Aldean, Frankie Ballard, Steve Holy and the Swon Brothers. His who’s-who list of collaborators on the new project include Liz Rose, Rodney Clawson, Tom Shapiro and Neil Thrasher, among others. Turning Point is at turns romantic (“Us Again”), soulful (“Saturday Afternoon”) and explosive (“I Don’t Do Lonely Well,” the track previously cut by Aldean on his 2012 LP, Night Train), with its first single being the pain-fueled “She’s Gone.”
“I have a lot of creative interests but the one thing remains consistent is my songwriting. I’ve been working harder than ever on my craft and I think this album reflects that,” says Wicks, who co-wrote his debut hit and the Top 15 follow-up, “All I Ever Wanted.” “I’ve also always been interested in production, so getting to co-produce Turning Point with my good buddy and co-writer Andy Dodd was big career milestone for me.”
In the years between album releases, Wicks has had a presence on radio, partnering with Blair Garner on the nationally syndicated America’s Morning Show, which also features singer Terri Clark. Wicks has played himself in a episode of the ABC drama, Nashville, and is currently training to compete in an Ironman triathlon in May of next year.
In the spring of 2016, Wicks will launch a tour in support of the new album.
