Watch Fallon, Ethan Hawke Croon Awkward Tales as ‘FML Country Singers’
Ethan Hawke and Jimmy Fallon strapped on their cowboy hats and acoustic guitars for the Tonight Show bit “FML Country Singers,” pairing everyday complaints from FMyLife.com with twangy melodies. “It’s not going too good,” the actor admits to the host. “Can I tell you about it?”
“Today my dentist gave me laughing gas, and in my drugged-up state, I told him that I wanted to hang out with him,” Hawke sang. “We’re going to an art museum next Tuesday.” Not to be outdone, Fallon complained, “Today, I got back my history term paper. The whole thing was crossed out. And at the end, my professor just wrote ‘Nope.'”
Hawke fired back, “Today, for the first time, I decided to just be myself at work. My boss asked me if I was drunk.” But Fallon brought out the big guns toward the end, unloading a hilarious admission: “Today, I was washing my hands in the bathroom, looked up and saw a spider on my cheek. Slapped myself in the face as hard as I could to kill it. It turns out the spider was on the mirror.”
As Fallon noted, the FML Country Singers “rotate band members, kind of like Menudo.” Last month, Keith Urban joined the comedian to drown his sorrows in twang.
