Watch ‘Trump’ Grill Ted Cruz on Immigration, ‘New York Values’ on ‘Fallon’
Jimmy “Donald Trump” Fallon offered fellow GOP candidate Ted Cruz some valuable advice ahead of his Thursday Tonight Show appearance, staging a warm-up interview over the phone. Though fake-Trump interrupted Cruz’s “843rd” viewing of The Princess Bride, the rivals set aside competition to discuss issues like immigration, Cruz’s infamous “New York values” criticism and the size of Trump’s package.
Cruz thanked Trump for “being the bigger man” and offering some help. “Oh, I’m the bigger man,” the Republican frontrunner responded. “With the bigger hands. And the bigger – you can’t see me, but I’m pointing at my Trump Tower.”
While Cruz detailed his plans for immigration reform, Trump’s direction was less specific – just saying “wall” over and over. Cruz also defended his controversial debate comment criticizing the real estate mogul’s “New York values.” “Look, Donald. I’m not gonna pander to New Yorkers,” he said, pandering seconds later. “I love New York City. It is the greatest city in the world with the best-looking audiences in the entire world. So when I said ‘New York values,’ I was merely trying to say that I value New York, except I was saying it backwards, the way Yoda would say it.”
Trump ends by offering the “perfect song” in case of a Fallon lip-sync battle: Rihanna’s “Work.”
