Watch Drake Talk ‘Mini-Drake’ Meme, Play Faceketball on ‘Fallon’
Ahead of Drake‘s double-duty turn as both host and musical guest of this weekend’s Saturday Night Live, the Views rapper visited The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to discuss his new album and play a round of ‘Faceketball.’
The rapper also addressed the viral mini-Drake meme inspired by the Views album cover, which depicts a (photoshopped) Drake sitting atop Toronto’s CN Tower. A Views meme generator allowed fans to plant a “baby Drake” on any photograph. The Tonight Show printed out a bunch of the mini-Drakes so the two planted them on everything in sight from Fallon’s mug to the New York City skyline in the backdrop. Drake even Drake’d himself. “Drake on Drake! This is so meta,” Fallon exclaimed.
Drake credited his mother, an English teacher, for inspiring his attention to wordplay and his affinity for Scrabble. He also showed a picture of his father in Shanghai, who keeps Drake grounded (he hasn’t heard Views yet, said the rapper).
Among the myriad projects Drake has in play, he also spoke about his new whiskey line Virginia Black, and knocked back a whole shot in one go. The booze loosened him up for the next segment: a game dubbed ‘Faceketball’ (which is essentially what it sounds like). The game came to an abrupt end after Drake delivered a rim-breaking dunk on Fallon’s face. And of course, a mini-Drake was “taken for a ride” on the game ball.
Drake’s Tonight Show visit was performance-free, but fans can expect to hear some Views tracks when the rapper hosts SNL Saturday.
