Watch Iggy Azalea Crush Nick ‘Swaggy P’ Young on ‘Lip Sync Battle’
We already know Iggy Azalea‘s got game on the basketball court. Let’s just say her fiancé, Los Angeles Lakers guard Nick “Swaggy P” Young, probably won’t be releasing an album any time soon.
On Thursday, the duo took the stage on Lip Sync Battle‘s first couples’ showdown, and it was all Azalea. She kicked things off with a bit of a wild card – Wheatus’ “Teenage Dirtbag” – but, as you’d expect from a Grammy nominated artist, she pulled it off perfectly, rocking the stage with charismatic hair flips. Young countered with Maroon 5’s “Sugar” (which he dedicated to his wife-to-be), and it went over like the Lakers’ 2015 season: A huge flop, something even Iggy pointed out.
“You fall in basketball,” Azalea said. “You do that on purpose sometimes, even. That’s just being fouled. You are a flip-flopper to the hundredth power.”
She has a point, Nick.
The stakes were raised in round two. Azalea turned up the heat with Silk’s “Freak Me,” fully equipped with the kind of moves Young claims he has never seen in the bedroom. T.M.I.? Swaggy responded with Whitesnake’s “Here I Go Again,” but clearly didn’t do his homework because the lip-syncing part of the performance – which is kinda important – fell short. His mind being somewhere else may have had something to do with it.
“I was hurt,” Young said after the performance. “‘Cause Iggy don’t grind like that at home. I was hurt.”
To no one’s surprise, Azalea walked away with the title. And unfortunately for Young, the odds of him getting an invite to be in one of her music videos aren’t looking great. Props for trying, though.
