Watch Blake Shelton Eat Sushi for the First Time on ‘Fallon’
If fame and money have changed Blake Shelton‘s tastes and habits, he does a really good job of disguising it from the world. The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon recently aired a piece with the country singer and Voice coach where the cameras capture his (supposed) first experience eating sushi, with predictably hilarious results.
Fallon goes big for Shelton’s sushi indoctrination, taking him to renowned New York dining spot Nobu. While Shelton limbers up with shots of sake, the culinary complexity ramps up with each course. “Can we get some more of that rice wine?” becomes Shelton’s refrain when his palate disagrees with the fried bait course or his bite of sashimi. He even has a helpful plastic band on his chopsticks to make them easier to use. Things take a turn late in the meal, when a sea urchin shot arrives and Shelton downs his without a second thought, while Fallon barely gets through his without gagging. As a reward for being a good sport, Shelton’s final course is much more in his comfort zone: a Big Mac.
Shelton just wrapped up his 10th season on NBC’s The Voice, which crowned Team Christina member Alisan Porter the winner. His new album If I’m Honest, which includes the Gwen Stefani duet “Go Ahead and Break My Heart,” was released on May 20th.
