Watch Adam Sandler, Jimmy Fallon Honor Troops With Garth Brooks Parody
Jimmy Fallon and Adam Sandler delivered a charming tribute to the troops on The Tonight Show Wednesday, turning the Garth Brooks classic “Friends in Low Places” into “Friends on All Bases.”
With an audience packed with soldiers in New York City for Fleet Week, Fallon and Sandler took the stage in 10-gallon hats and acoustic guitars while a digital flag waved behind them. Fallon led the song with straight-ahead odes to the men and women in the armed forces, while Sandler sang laugh lines like, “Now you’re back in town and keeping us safe and sound/ From that crazy-ass Elmo in Times Square” and “And you’re good looking too, and if I saw you/ On Tinder you’d know I’d swipe right.”
The duo came together on the rousing chorus that squeezed in every wing of the military into Brooks’ indelible chorus: “Cause I’ve friends on all bases, from the Navy up to the Air Forces aces/ And the Army greens, Coast Guard and Marines.”
